Temecula Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center is a leading provider of medically-supervised medication assisted treatment for adults 18 years of age and older. Understanding how critical it is to provide services that can promote successful recovery from addictions to opioids like heroin, our treatment center offers the following medications that have been proven effective and can be incorporated into a patient’s personalized treatment plan:
Methadone: Methadone is a synthetic medication that is classified as an opioid agonist. This medication is effective in preventing cravings and withdrawal and does not cause the same disorienting high as other opioids.
Subutex: Subutex contains buprenorphine as its primary ingredient, and works to lessen withdrawal symptoms and cravings by blocking the dangerous effects of opioids on the brain. Subutex is a partial opioid agonist-antagonist.
Suboxone: Like Subutex, Suboxone contains buprenorphine. However, it also contains naloxone, which when combined with buprenorphine, reduces cravings and withdrawal symptoms. If an individual attempts to abuse Suboxone or other opioids during treatment, withdrawal symptoms will occur.
Vivitrol: Vivitrol is a non-narcotic medication that is non-addictive. Injected once per month, this medication (which contains naltrexone) stops withdrawal symptoms and cravings for the continued use of opioids.
The medication that is prescribed, as well as the dosage, will be based on each patient’s individual treatment needs. These medications can also be adjusted if a patient requires such during treatment.
